Cawood Viking Sword, 11th Century

The HN-SH2457 Cawood Viking Sword, 11th Century, by Hanwei, is a beautiful reproduction of the original sword that was discovered near Cawood Castle in England. This sword is considered to be one of the finest and best preserved examples of an 11th century Viking sword. The original sword was found in the mud of the river bed of the River Ouse, where it was preserved for nearly a millennium. Today it is on display at the Yorkshire Museum and remains a major attraction for visitors and history buffs.

Hanwei's version of the Cawood sword is a near-perfect replica of the original sword, including the lobed pommel and sweeping quillons. The broad, ridged blade is made from high-grade 5160 carbon steel, making it an easy sword to handle and wield. While the exact details of the original scabbard are unknown, Hanwei's version features a leather-lined scabbard typical of the Viking era.

Some of the special features of this sword are the 5160 carbon steel, the leather lined scabbard and the fact that it is inspired by the original sword on display at the Yorkshire Museum.

The overall length of the sword is approximately 91.5 cm, with a blade of about 76.2 cm and a hilt of 10.2 cm. Its unique design and superior craftsmanship make it an excellent addition to any sword collection.
