Sword of the Munich City Guard

This is a German military sword used by the Munich City Guard around 1600. Its design and length were ideal for breaking up a street or pub fight, as city guards often did at the time. In addition, its imposing appearance and striking presence made it ideal for intimidating lawbreakers and enforcing the law.

The sword's blade is made of well-hardened 1065 steel with a high carbon content, making it very strong and durable. Its pommel and quillons are made of steel, while the handle is made of wood that is wrapped with twisted steel wire to ensure a firm grip. Additionally, the blade features a width of approximately 4.3 cm at its widest point and 2 cm at its narrowest. It is important to note that the sword is not sharpened.

The total length of this magnificent sword is 101cm, while the length of the blade is approximately 80cm, making it a unique and elegant piece. Its weight without scabbard is approximately 1480g.

You must send the item(s) to us using your own means. Freight collect shipments will not be accepted.
