The Roman Cingulum Militare was a leather belt with decorative metal plates and often fitted with holders or hanging devices for the soldier's dagger. This war belt not only served to hold up the warrior's braccae (trousers) during battle, but was also a sign of military rank or honour. The cingulum often included a leather aprle consisting of several flat, narrow strips ( so-called pteryges or pteruges), which hung down from the belt and were decorated with continuous rows of riveted metal fittings.

Each strap ended with metal pendants ( pensilia ). The Roman legionary cingulum or balteus offered here, richly decorated with brass fittings, is a replica of an original artefact, which was dated to the second half of the 1st century AD and is now housed in the Romano-Germanic Central Museum in Mainz (RGZM).

The hinged buckle, the riveted plaques and medallions, the mobile Pugio holders and the pendants are based on historical finds from the Mainz area. The hip belt is made of sturdy 3 mm thick leather and is additionally lined with

scoop on the inside to protect the wearer's tunic from the rivets holding the decorative plates. The strap is pre-drilled and adjustable to a variety of sizes. A leather cord is included to tie and attach a dagger to the button-shaped Pugio suspensions.
The aprle strip is made of 2mm thick leather (unlined). Each leather strip has an integrated loop and can therefore be pushed on or off the belt as desired.

The delivery time for products made to order or personalized may take longer than usual depending on the workload at that time.

You must send the item(s) to us using your own means. Freight collect shipments will not be accepted.

The Customer has the right to withdraw from the order within 14 calendar days of receipt. Outside of this period, revocations will not be accepted for orders, nor for orders for the supply of goods made according to the Customer's specifications or clearly personalized, or that, by their nature, cannot be returned or may deteriorate or expire quickly, etc., that have been unsealed and/or used by the Customer. The Customer must notify THE ENTITY of their withdrawal through the Withdrawal Form (Link to the Document) by email, post, or fax, within this 14-day period. The cost of return shipping will be borne by the Customer. The products must be in the same condition as received, with the original packaging, and must not have been used. The refund will be issued using the same payment method used by the Customer .
