Tengen Uzui and His Past as a Shinobi
Tengen Uzui holds the position of Sound Hashira within the Demon Slayer Corps in Kimetsu no Yaiba, but his story goes far beyond that title.
Tengen was born on October 31 and grew up in a shinobi clan, where he received rigorous training in combat, stealth, and weapons handling alongside his siblings, which helped him develop his speed, reflexes, physical endurance, and extraordinary hearing.
During his youth, Tengen followed his father's teachings and participated in the clan's activities alongside his siblings, thereby allowing his experience as a shinobi to help him develop a great ability to move quickly and adapt to different combat situations. However, over time, he began to question the lifestyle he had been taught and had grown up with, and he decided to seek his own path.
It was thus that he later left the world of shinobi and joined the Demon Slayer Corps.
Joining the organization marked a new chapter in his life and led him to interact with other high-ranking slayers. Thanks to his skills and experience, he managed to rise through the ranks and become one of the Hashira, the organization's highest-ranking warriors, taking the title of Sound Hashira.
Tengen Uzui's Sound Breathing
Sound Breathing is the signature combat style of the Sound Hashira, which derives from Thunder Breathing and makes use of his ability to perceive and analyze the sounds produced during battle.
Tengen studies the rhythm of his opponents' movements and uses that information to anticipate their actions, although his technique also incorporates explosives, which he combines with his physical strength, speed, and weapons handling.
Tengen Uzui's Nichirin Swords
Tengen stands out for his outgoing personality, confidence, and love for flashy things, so his aesthetic combines jewelry, accessories, and bandages with his silver hair and a modified Demon Slayer Corps uniform. However, within this context, the large Nichirin swords that define his unique fighting style are perhaps the most striking feature, reinforcing his personality.
These swords are two enormous Nichirin weapons connected by a chain, resulting in a design that allows them to be used in coordination to perform wide-ranging attacks, while the chain expands the range of movement between the two blades and extends their reach.
Furthermore, Tengen can spin them, cross them, and use them alongside his explosives to perform especially spectacular attacks.
The size and shape of these swords distinguish them from the katanas used by most slayers, giving him a distinctive feature that is also part of his image as the Sound Hashira. Thus, their size, the chain, and the unique combat system make these weapons one of the character's most recognizable elements, as the combination of this weapon with explosives defines much of his fighting style and reinforces this Hashira's extravagant appearance.
Tengen Uzui's Wives
Tengen is not only extravagant in his actions, fighting, and dress, but his lifestyle also highlights this characteristic compared to most characters, as he has three wives: Makio, Suma, and Hinatsuru, all of whom are kunoichi.
The three maintain a close relationship with the Sound Hashira and participate in missions related to his work as a demon slayer. However, they all have quite different personalities: Makio has a determined and direct character, Suma stands out for her expressive personality, and Hinatsuru maintains a calm and reflective attitude. Furthermore, each has her own skills and contributes to missions in a different way.
