Ash Ketchum, the eternal apprentice from Pallet Town, the anime's protagonist, and Red, also known as Rojo, the protagonist of the video games and manga. But have you ever wondered about the similarities and differences between them?

Ash Ketchum
Satoshi, in Japan, is an anime character who has left a mark on the hearts of millions of fans since his appearance in 1997.
He was born in Pallet Town. His mother, Delia Ketchum, is kind and optimistic, always supporting him, while of his father, only what she mentions at the beginning is known, revealing that it took him four days to reach Viridian City, suggesting a parallel with the path Ash would follow.
His adventure began unconventionally: after oversleeping on the day of choosing his first Pokémon, he couldn't pick, and Professor Oak only had a rebellious Pikachu, a Pokémon that wasn't even one of the starters in his town.
At first, Pikachu refused to obey him, but after Ash risked his life to protect him from a flock of Spearow, they formed an inseparable bond. The Professor, for his part, acts as his future mentor, offering him advice and support throughout his journey.
Caterpie was the first Pokémon he caught on his own, demonstrating his determination and ability to connect with these creatures. This later evolved into Metapod and then Butterfree, marking one of the anime's first emotional goodbyes, when he released it to form a family.
In the first season, he was accompanied by Misty, a Water-type Pokémon trainer who often chastised him for his immaturity, and Brock, a future Pokémon breeder with encyclopedic knowledge of them, who provided wisdom and experience. Together, they traveled the Kanto region facing various challenges, including Team Rocket, an antagonistic and comical trio made up of Jessie, James, and Meowth, the first Pokémon with the ability to communicate like humans, whose main objective was to capture Pikachu.
However, he had several different companions during his journey, helping to demonstrate his ability to make friends and his willingness to help others, qualities that remain central to his personality.
Throughout the series, fans have speculated about relationships between Ash and his travel companions, especially Misty, who occasionally showed special affection for him, although nothing more than friendship was ever defined, and Serena, from the Pokémon XY series, who showed romantic feelings for him, kissing him goodbye in her last appearance. However, the anime has kept Ash focused on his dream of becoming a Pokémon Master, relegating romantic relationships to the background, reinforcing his image as an eternal adventurer, focused on his personal growth and Pokémon.
Known for his inexhaustible energy, enthusiasm, and contagious optimism. Although he often acts impulsively, his courage and determination make him a natural leader. One of his most iconic characteristics is flipping his cap backward when concentrating on a battle or capture.
As a trainer, he has proven to be creative and adaptable. Although he was inexperienced and made mistakes, he learned to become a formidable strategist, always prioritizing the well-being of his Pokémon, seeing them as friends and companions rather than combat tools.
He often catches Pokémon unconventionally, earning their trust instead of weakening them.

· Charizard: Initially, he didn't respect him because he thought he was a weak trainer. However, after several incidents where Ash demonstrated his commitment and care, he finally accepted his leadership.
· Infernape: This one had been mistreated by its previous trainer, so Ash needed to earn its trust and help it overcome its traumas to unlock its true potential.
Red
The original protagonist of the franchise, debuting in the Pokémon Red and Blue video games.
Born in Pallet Town, in the Kanto region, he is a young trainer who aspires to become the Pokémon League Champion and complete the Pokédex.
Information about his family is limited, with only his mother, a housewife who supports his adventures, being known.
Depending on the player's choice, he begins his journey with Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squirtle as his first Pokémon; however, in Pokémon Yellow, his initial partner is a Pikachu, reflecting the anime's popularity.
In the manga "Pocket Monsters Special" ("Pokémon Adventures" in English), he is also the protagonist. His first captured Pokémon is a Poliwag named Poli, which eventually evolves into Poliwrath.
Throughout his adventure, he captures and trains a variety of Pokémon, forming a balanced and powerful team. He proves to be a talented and brave trainer facing various challenges and adversaries.
Known for his determination, courage, and exceptional combat skills. Although a man of few words, his leadership and connection with his Pokémon are evident. His rivalry with Blue (Green in Japan), his childhood friend and Professor Oak's grandson, is a central part of his story, something Ash also reflects in the anime.
